Praesum Healthcare Facilities Honor Veterans Day and National Veteran and Military Families Month
For nearly a century, November has been a month dedicated to honoring our nation’s veterans, and on November 11th, Veterans Day, we pay special tribute to their service and the immense sacrifices made by military families.
Established as Military Family Month in 1996, this month celebrates the resilience, strength, and courage of military families who navigate life changes, adapt to new environments, and support our armed forces.
In recognition of Veterans Day and National Veteran and Military Families Month, Praesum Healthcare and Sunrise Detox Center have expanded resources for military families, mental health providers, and educators to support those who serve. For many veterans, medical detoxification is the critical first step in a long-term recovery journey addressing both substance use and mental health disorders.

Accessing the VA System of Care
For many who’ve served our country to achieve optimal health and long-term recovery from substance use and mental health disorders, medical detoxification is the first step.
If you or a veteran you care about is facing challenges with mental health or substance use, this is the time to take that step. Veterans may begin accessing resources through the VA, obtaining referrals for detox care from local VA providers or, in urgent cases, directly from a Community Care Network (CCN) provider. Once a referral is received, our team at Sunrise Detox coordinates with the VA to ensure immediate, supportive entry into treatment.
Comprehensive Support at Sunrise Detox
Sunrise Detox Centers offer veterans a safe, welcoming environment for detox from alcohol, opiates, and most prescription drugs. Our five facilities collaborate closely with local VA hospitals and clinics to provide an evidence-based, veteran-focused approach to care, including group and individual therapy, trauma-informed care, and MAT. As a CCN-approved provider, Sunrise Detox provides structured transportation to and from our facilities, easing the process for veterans and their families.
As a CCN provider approved by the VA, Sunrise Detox can deliver care more efficiently with positive outcomes in the community, with transportation arranged from and to those locations.
Entry points into Praesum Healthcare’s continuum of Veterans’ care with these SDC Centers enable veterans to access evidence-based therapy options, including group and individual counseling, trauma-informed care, and medication-assisted treatment, to initiate their overall well-being in lasting recovery.
The five locations offer safe, comfortable medical detox from alcohol, opiates, and most prescription drugs in Toms River, NJ; Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Millbury, MA, and Duluth, GA. These SDC facilities enable veterans to access treatment with confidence, knowing they are receiving care from experienced, compassionate professionals who understand the unique needs of those who have served.
Through regular case conferences with VA social workers, outreach coordinators, Veteran Justice Officers (VJOs), and nurses, our staff ensures ongoing program quality and coordination for each veteran’s continued recovery journey.
Sunrise Detox and Praesum Healthcare are committed to honoring the sacrifice made by veterans and their families. Our highest expression of gratitude is to provide prompt, professional, and dedicated care in close partnership with the VA, helping veterans achieve long-lasting recovery.
The care of military families and children sustains our fighting force, and strengthens the health, security, and safety of our nation's families and communities. The sacrifice all Veterans and their loved ones have made to serve and protect us instills a distinct responsibility on each provider to offer care in a prompt, professional and effective manner.
